Tips for success:

Browse the web for sites that you like, and note which features you like or that annoy you.

Think of the look and feel of your product or service, ask what you wish to convey.

Examine your goals for your web site. Is this an add-on to a brick-and-mortar, or a stand-alone sites?

Search engine optimization

Search engine optimization is a process that is often misunderstood. It is misunderstood because those who attempt to create income for themselves by selling S.E.O. services want you to believe that expert assistance is needed.

The easiest way to get good placement with Google is to be relevant: The closer that a searcher's search term comes to matching the words you have on your page, the more visible you will be.

Being linked to sites with some integrity and credibility also helps: Universities, organizations, news periodicals, etc.

Images should always have accurate labels, and key-words must match your content.

Finally, web sites need to be updated often -- once a week is good, once a month is the minimum. Google does not like stale sites, and neither do searchers. It does not cost you a penny to have your site refreshed each week. This is a free service that very few web site developers offer.

calculatorThese prices are meant to be a guide to your final costs. The price will vary based on the complexity of your project. For instance, a shopping page with simple photos and add-to-cart buttons will be less than one with photo enlargements or lightbox sliding enlargements. At the time of your quote, I will have your final calculation. It may be more than these ball-park figures or less. I do not believe in hidden fees, and do not pressure clients to upgrade or spend more than what they can afford.

I feel strongly that a web site is never done, and that improvements and changes should be flexible and easy to administer. I will check with you on occasion to make sure that you have everything you need on your page. If you need additional work that is beyond the parameters of our contract, I will work with you to find an agreeable solution.

These prices do NOT include hosting or domain name registration. These costs ordinarily amount to around $100 per year, sometimes as little as $70 will do it. See the hosting site evaluation list to the left for more information.
